2.3 Cumulative exposure

Apart from exposure to different compounds in risk-benefit, risk-risk comparisons, another example of multi-compound exposure addressed in WP3 is exposure to chemicals with the same mechanism of action. Types of chemicals have been identified for which this is true, e.g. organophosphate insecticides which inhibit acetylcholine-esterase and a class of endocrine disruptors having anti-androgenic effects. These two groups of chemicals are studies in the project integrating exposure and effect modelling into one model in which much attention is paid to the derivation of the Relative Potency Factors (RPFs) using Bechmark Dose Modelling and the uncertainty around these factors.
